6 handy tips to prepare well for summer and waxing

Spring has recently begun and we can once again enjoy the crocuses popping out of the ground, blue skies and sunshine. The rising temperatures mark the arrival of summer. And with the summer coming up, you want to look perfect in your summer dress or bikini. High time to start waxing already.

This way you'll be well prepared for the summer!

Waxing is a fast and efficient way to remove unwanted hair and be hair-free for a longer period of time. There are many different types of wax products. Harsdiscounter has an extensive range of wax products. Think of liquid wax (soft wax) and hard wax in the form of granules or a tablet. So you have plenty of choice and you can choose a wax product and method that suits you best. To prepare you for the summer, here are the Top 6 handy tips for waxing to be totally summerproof!

Grow your hair a little before waxing

Some people think that you have to shave all your hair before going for a wax. The opposite is true. Let your hair grow for about two weeks before waxing, as the easiest and best way to wax is when the hairs are at least half a centimeter long.

Remove dead skin cells

Before you start a wax treatment, start by properly exfoliating the skin where you will be depilating. That's the first step. Do this about two to three days before your wax treatment. Why? So you get a better result and less chance of ingrown hairs. Dead skin cells are removed this way, and help prevent ingrown hairs in particular. But be careful not to exfoliate the skin within 24 hours before your wax treatment.

Don't switch from one hair removal method to another

Waxing one time, shaving the next or depilating in another way can be painful, itchy and encourage ingrown hairs. Not so nice. That's because the structure of your hair changes after waxing. If, for example, you switch to shaving with a razor in between waxing sessions, you will counteract this process. So stick to one depilatory method as much as possible to get the best result without any annoying complaints.

Film wax

If you are planning to go for a Brazilian waxing or mainly wax other vulnerable parts of the body like armpits, face and bikini line then film wax is the best choice. The wax is applied to the skin as a warm substance and when it has cooled down, you can easily remove it. Skin irritations are a thing of the past with film wax. This is because this wax attaches only to the hair and not the skin. Therefore, waxing with film wax is a lot less painful than in the case of the classic wax.

Give your skin time to recover

Your skin needs a few days to recover after waxing. So if you're planning to sit in the sun or go on vacation, start waxing in time. The earlier you start, the better the results. By waxing your hair, it will also grow back much more gently. It generally takes three to four weeks for the first hairs to reappear after waxing. Therefore we recommend you to repeat waxing after three weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows of course. And keep the treated skin clean the next day(s) and try to avoid heat and friction.

The day after

After waxing it is wise to take good care of your skin. You can choose a post-treatment product to remove wax residues or moisturize your skin. Every skin reacts differently to waxing, of course, but especially if the skin is slightly irritated, it is advisable to use a good after-treatment product. Also to get a better hair removal result. There are several products that you can use before a wax treatment to ensure that the result of the wax treatment is better and that the skin is softened. Xanitalia has a nice range of after wax lotions with natural ingredients such as Calendula, Aloe Vera and Argan oil, among others. Here you can see all the after wax oils and lotions listed.
